Le Mois du Doc: The Belgian Documentary Month

On the occasion of the Mois du Doc, filmfriend presents two collections of French-language Belgian documentaries, both short and feature-length, on the theme of the 2026 edition: "Documentary, a factory of empathy and a place of resistance". “As long as we accept entering the lives of others, the world will remain larger than our certainties. And in a world tempted by isolationism, practicing otherness is already an act of resistance.” Sarah Moon Howe, a psychologist by training, thus describes the role of documentary filmmaking. Otherness, kindness, and compassion permeate the works we invite you to discover in this collection. Created and organised by the Centre du Cinéma et de l'Audiovisuel de la Fédération Wallonie-Bruxelles, the Mois du Doc (Month of the Doc) aims to promote documentary films produced in French-speaking Belgium through the screening of films in various places in Brussels and Wallonia. On this occasion, more or less usual places are involved: neighbourhood cinemas and film clubs, but also associations, cultural centres, public libraries, youth centres, art centres, museums, media libraries, cafés, restaurants, or even retirement homes.
