Lucerne Starry Hours with Claudio Abbado

Performances of his legendary Mahler Concerts and other Highlights

The Lucerne Festival on Lake Lucerne has existed since 1938 and has long been one of the most renowned international music festivals in the field of classical music. In 2003, the Italian conductor Claudio Abbado (1933-2014) founded the Lucerne Festival Orchestra together with Michael Haefliger, the artistic director of the Lucerne Festival, which has since brought together internationally renowned orchestral musicians in Lucerne for a fortnight every summer. The focus of our collection "Sternstunden mit Claudio Abbado" is on the symphonies of Gustav Mahler performed and conducted by Abbado in Lucerne. In addition, there are the "Altenberg Lieder" by Alban Berg, the Schubert Lieder and Prokofiev's Third Piano Concerto.
