Nothing but the Truth

Society/Book adaptation, South Africa 2008

Set in the post-apartheid era of South Africa's Truth and Reconciliation Commission, this film sheds light on those who fought against the oppressive regime from within. Sipho Makhaya, the deputy director of the Central Library in Port Elizabeth, has endured 43 years of humiliation and suffering under apartheid, including the tragic loss of his son. With the new government's promotion of Black leadership, Sipho hopes to finally take over as library manager. Meanwhile, his daughter Thando, working as an interpreter for the Truth and Reconciliation Commission, seeks answers about her brother's murder.
